We sell all of our bulk materials
by the cubic yard. A cubic yard is equal to 27 cubic feet. Use the following
formulas and chart to help you determine how many cubic yards of material
your project requires. As a general guide 1 cubic yard of aggregate, sand, or
dirt is equivalent to 1.5 tons.
Formulas for determining your Square Footage:
Rectangle: Length x
Width = Total Square Feet Circle: 3.14 x Radius
Squared = Total Square Feet Triangle: Length of
Base x Length of Height x .5 = Total Square feet
1 Cubic Yard =
(Length x Width x Depth divided by 27)

Grass/ Sod Calculation
Sod sizes are approximately
16" x 24" solid sod pieces. There are approximately 150-160 pieces in
a 50 sq. yard pallet that covers a 450 sq. foot area. Depending on moisture a
pallet weighs between 2,000 and 3,000 pounds.
Determine amount need
by pieces by finding sq. ft.(Length x
Width). Take square footage divide by 9 for total yards. Multiply total yard by
3.5. This is how many pieces you need to cover your area. Pieces formula = (L x W ) /9 x 3.5 = Total
Pieces
